Abbott has recalled two lots of the infant formula products (Only 14.1 ounce (400g) cans were involved in the action). Calcilo XD is a low-calcium/vitamin D-free infant formula that is designed for the nutrition support for infants and children with high calcium in blood (hypercalcemia). You can only purchase the infant formula by special order.
The infant formula was recalled due to a small amount of air that may have entered the can, and resulting in product oxidation. Oxidation common sign would be an off aroma and consumption of very high-oxidized foods can cause gastrointestinal symptoms (GI) such as throwing up (vomiting) and diarrhea. For questions and concerns, you should contact a health care professional.
The Calcilo XD infant formula in 14.1 ounce (400g) cans were the only one that was recalled with stock code number 00378 and with lot numbers 39973RB6. It is printed on the bottom of the cans and no other Calcilo XD infant formulas are affected.
Between June 06, 2006 and April 17, 2008, two lots were only distributed in the United States, Canada, Malaysia, Korea and Bahrain and if you had purchased or have the infant formula (Calcilo Xd low-calcium/vitamin D-free infant formula with iron powder) from the two lots, please contact Abbott Nutrition at 1-800-638-6493.
