CEO MOM SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW WITH HEIDI FISH

Just hours ago she was departing Las Vegas and heading to Seattle. The endless hours of a photo shoot using models, then mix in the intensity of acclaimed Italian photographer Rossano Maniscalchi would have any designer stressed-out. All but except Mommiesville's CEO MOM Spotlight mom and celebrity swimwear designer Heidi Fish.
Born in Anchorage, AK where swimwear wasn't the talk of the town, though at age 3, Heidi already knew she wanted to be a designer. Around age 5 she realized that she didn't like the clothes that her Barbie doll came with, so she made the doll new clothes. Before you know it, she was making outfits as a teenager for herself and her friends. Heidi continued to perfect her craft for years and 1999, she started her very own swimwear line, running the busienss right out of her own kitchen. Being a one-woman team, she'd go down to the local beach to sell the designs herself.
Now in Seattle, Heidi credits her German grandmother Henrietta Staving/Baumann for passing down such talents. As the Head Designer at Saks Fifth Avenue in New york City from 1934-48, Henrietta created Millinery Couture Hats and designed for the likes Ethel Merman, Helen Hays, and the women of the world-renowned Rockfeller family.
Heidi explained what it's like being a business mom and what she'd suggest to other business moms and those thinking of becoming one, "I believe that you have to love what you're doing first and foremost. Then it becomes a part of you and you'll work even harder to see it through. This translates into Enthusiam, which you must have to continue. And of course everything starts and maintains itself by your Faith In God."

With endless successes ranging from being featured annually in Sports Illustrated Swimwear Issue, television appearances, additional magazines features, and fashion shows around the country, critics of course would wonder how can she handle building a business plus being mom of 5 boys. Heidi responds, "Some may think that moms can't coordinate the two, but we can do just about anything through discipline and scheduling. Raising kids takes the same amount of organization, planning, and action as running a business. It's all about having the passion to make it work. You can do it."
Heidi Fish continues to break new ground in 2008 with multiple business deals underway, magazine covers and features, plus new swimwear lines in the making. We asked Heidi what advice she'd like to give Mommiesville moms around the world and hear is what she had to say:
"I think all moms should write out a wish list or goal list of what they want to achieve. Your life just doesn't end at motherhood, there are still things within you that only you know that you want to do, so let those things come out and still be a great mom. Tell yourself, I can do this. Believe and have faith in yourself because when you're on the right path, everything else begins to flow, so just go with the flow. And whenever you're stressed, just meditate, and let it go. Though it sounds simple, you have to work at it and truly learn to let some things go. Look within and learn to love yourself also, because from within is where you'll find your true beauty and peace."
